I’ll let the product description do the talking, as their cunning copy is delightful, in my opinion.
Ninjabread Men Cookie Cutters are cut out for action! These stealthy shinobi warriors are set to sneak into your kitchen and stage a cookie coup! Cut, bake, decorate… and then watch them disappear! Add swords, nunchaku, and shuriken stars with icing and toothpicks for more ambiance!
I’m just going to let the picture speak for itself, because I don’t have much else to say about the shirt besides, “I really, really want it.” Made by one eldermoon, a t-shirt artist located on redbubble, this tee is one for any Final Fantasy geek’s wardrobe. Head on over to the “Chocobo Racing League” shirt page on redbubble and order it in your favorite color!
ASCII art will forever hold a place in all geeks’ hearts, and now along has come a website that will allow you to upload and “asciifi” any image. As long as you’re using Google Chrome or Godzilla Firebox (Mozilla Firefox), that is. But that’s a non-issue, right? In true geek fashion, the author of asciifi has released the source code powering the ASCII converter.
ASCII art has been around since the 60s, but we’re still using crappy PHP scripts to upload and transform images. There has to be a better approach, right? Imagine an ASCII art converter for a more civilized age.
If you haven’t heard, Megaupload, a Honk Kong based file sharing website uploaded a promotional video (featuring several hip hop stars and other miscellaneous celebrities) to YouTube some time last week. Universal Music Group (UMG) filed a complaint against Megaupload regarding this YouTube submission, even though they had no legal grounds to do so. UMG has stated that they did not file a takedown request pursuant to the DMCA, but rather used their sway and access to YouTube’s Content Management System to file an internal, private complaint. (In other words, a corporation leveraged their power with a media distribution outlet to censor another business and violate their rights to free speech.) So, without further ado, here’s the Megaupload promo.
Perfect gifts for your favorite holiday-crazed family and/or friends, these LEGO tree ornaments are sure to bring the Christmas spirit to any onlooker. You can pick from a myriad of designs, including my favorite, the Millennium Falcon. However, you can opt for a more traditional ornament and choose a sleigh, ball, tree or gingerbread house. Did I mention the building instructions are free and can be built from parts you have lying around?
Well, it’s that time of year again. Yes, it’s ugly sweater season. Except this holiday season, you can take the cake (and the grand prize) at your friend’s or office’s ugly sweater parties by wearing a magnificent french fry sweater! If only I knew where you could order it from … if someone finds out, let us know!
My Robot Nation is an amazing little collaboration website by Kodama Studios and Offload Studios that allows you to customize a 3D robot to your liking, order it and have it shipped to your door! Each robot ranges from 2″ to 6″ and comes in a variety of shapes and colors. Even if you’re not going to order one (It’ll make your favorite geek a great Christmas present!) you might as well play with their 3d robot builder, it’s really well put together and entertaining.
You might have seen this video surface in early November which features an Android powered device mixing alcoholic beverages automatically. This device, named iZac (in homage to the bartending robot from the hit show, Futurama) can dispense six different liquids and features an “I’m Feeling Lucky” option for those daring enough to taste a totally random concoction of liquors. You can download the iZac app, source code and documentation on the website of Nick Johnson, the creator of this magnificent autonomation.
I don’t know if you get the same feeling, but after that video it seems like the learning curve for people to learn how to make beautiful and immersive 3d games is far less steep now than it was five years ago. Check out the video below as it walks through the Unreal Development Kit’s IDE used in creating 3d games for Android, iOS, and desktop computers.
